ATS carbon twin disc clutch kit, Spec II, with a cover clamp load of 1300kg, pull type. ATS carbon discs are made from a high-function carbon material containing ceramic, produced by filling carbon with metallic silicon and sintering it at over 2000 deg C. The clutch is hard to stall on take-off with a light pedal for the power it transmits, the half-clutch zone and pedal position stay the same hot or cold, it does not slip once warmed up, gear changes become very smooth and fast, and shock to the transmission is reduced. ATS reports durability records of 300,000 to 500,000 km; long half-clutch use (drag starts, clutch kicking) should be avoided with carbon. Spec II is the ATS low pedal effort specification. This is the ATS Double Action Pull clutch: a stepped double action plate operates long and short diaphragm release arms, so the pedal first fully disengages the clutch and then gives a slow, wide half-clutch zone (3 to 5 times wider than a conventional reinforced pull clutch) that makes stalling on take-off very unlikely. It is compatible with the original pull-type release system, so no conversion parts are needed, and the ATS reinforced wedge collar is fitted as standard.
