Since the launch of the CIVIC TYPE R FK8, we have focused on the high-dimensional potential of the K20C turbo engine, and have been promoting ECU analysis and settings with HONDATA FlashPro with the goal of further improving engine performance.
Only by optimizing the ECU such as boost, ignition timing, fuel control, etc., we achieved an output improvement of about 40ps compared to the normal while securing a sufficient safety margin, but further improved the torque in the medium and low speed range and the output in the high speed range. In order to achieve this, we started developing a large-capacity turbocharger.
The turbocharger developed this time adopts the state-of-the-art, high-efficiency MHI turbocharger that supplies the FK8 genuine turbocharger. The shape of the compressor and turbine blades has been optimized using the latest CFD analysis technology, and by increasing the diameter, high output has been achieved without sacrificing low to medium torque. In addition, since the housing has the same shape as the genuine one, installation is completely bolt-on without processing.
The shape and number of blades of the compressor wheel have been optimized, and the size has been increased from genuine 58? to 65? to achieve high flow rate and high boost.
The blade shape and number of turbine wheels have also been optimized, and the size has been changed from the stock 47? to 52?, and by increasing the capacity while suppressing the moment of inertia, we succeeded in reducing exhaust pressure and improving response.
