After repeated on-road testing on various stages, we developed a 1.5-way differential with a differential cam angle of 50° on the ON side and 20° off the OFF side, and initial torque of 5.0-6.0kg. Furthermore, by using a clutch plate that reduces chattering noise, we have achieved a higher level of comfort than conventional mechanical LSDs. This LSD maximizes the Civic Type R's cornering performance.

The original helical LSD installed in the stock vehicle is designed to accommodate both sports driving and comfort at an acceptable level. We wanted to make it better, especially for performance focused driving. Our solution is a custom designed mechanical LSD.
